Overview

This unit of competency outlines the skills and knowledge required to safely remove non-friable asbestos-containing material (ACM).

It covers preparation, containment, removal of non-friable ACM, and includes essential knowledge of decontamination and disposal procedures. The worksite can be a real or simulated environment, including domestic or commercial premises, demolition sites, new construction sites, or existing structures undergoing renovation, extension, restoration, or maintenance.

Projects involving the removal of non-friable asbestos may include construction sites, ships, or soil remediation.

Students who are deemed competent will be awarded a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification, issued by Modskills Talented Training (RTO 45144), qualifies commercial operators to apply to the relevant State Authority for a Class B (non-friable) asbestos removal licence.

Our nationally recognised Remove Non-Friable Asbestos course is designed for individuals who may need to manage or remove asbestos in Australia. Delivered by experienced instructors, this course combines both theory and practical scenarios tailored to your specific worksite. With a strong focus on hands-on learning, at least 50% of the course is dedicated to practical training in operating safely on an asbestos worksite.

1 day (allow approximately 8 hours)

  • Participants must be at least 15 years of age
  • All participants must hold CPCCOHS1001A – ‘Work safely in the construction industry’ obtained after 11 May 2009 OR CPCCWHS1001/CPCWHS1001 – ‘Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’. This is commonly known as a ‘White Card’.
  • If you do not provide this by the business day prior to your course commencement, your enrolment will be cancelled, and you will not be permitted entry to the course. If this occurs, our terms and conditions will apply and therefore your course fee will not be refunded nor held in credit.
