Overview

This unit involves the skills and knowledge essential to ensure the safety of transport activities, focusing on identifying features and applying chain of responsibility obligations outlined in the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) or applicable state/territory laws and regulations. Participants will also learn to identify and report chain of responsibility risks within the transport industry environment. Work is typically conducted under close supervision, often within a team setting.

Participants who pass the assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment acknowledged by the Australian Qualifications Framework. This accreditation is recognised across Australia. The Statement is issued by ModSkills+ Talented Training (RTO 45144).

National Unit of Competency

TLIF0009 – Ensure the safety of transport activities (Chain of Responsibility)

  • Identification of chain of responsibility features and parties involved in transport activities
  • Explanation of shared responsibility obligations within the chain of responsibility
  • Understanding of primary duties of each party and compliance methods
  • Explanation of breaches and penalties for non-compliance
  • Application of chain of responsibility obligations in workplace policies and procedures
  • Explanation of methods and requirements for managing speed, fatigue, vehicle dimensions, and load security
  • Identification and assessment of transport activity risks, along with implementation of risk control measures
  • Completion and processing of workplace documents related to chain of responsibility
  • There are a few prerequisites that must be met:
    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of English (written and verbal)
    • Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
    • Provide three (3) matching original evidence of identity documents (see this link and read the “What types of evidence do I need to provide?” section above for details)
    • Please note that arriving without this ID will result in you being turned away from the course
    • Arrive in suitable PPE: Safety boots, long pants and a high-vis shirt
    • Complete the pre-course study and assessment questions

     

    Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)

    • If English is your second language, you must advise us at the time of booking. Contact our Sales and Service Team on 07 3375 5822 to determine your eligibility to undertake this training. We will assist you in any way we can, but due to the demands of the assessment process, do not guarantee that every applicant will possess the level of LLN required for the assessment.
    • You will require at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills. If you have any doubts, please let us know so we can assist you.
    • The Regulator does not allow an interpreter to be used during the mandated formal assessment.

     

    Pre-Course Study and Assessment
