Overview

This course will provide participants with the knowledge, training and practical skills to effectively perform the role and responsibilities of workplace fire warden.

This Fire Warden training course is suitable for companies and organisations that require their employees to be responsible for participating in the preparation of workplace emergency procedures; alerting and reporting potential workplace emergencies; evaluating the need to evacuate a work area; preparing for an evacuation; and assisting people who may require support in accordance with workplace emergency procedures.

Participants who pass the assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment acknowledged by the Australian Qualifications Framework. This accreditation is recognised across Australia. The Statement is issued by ModSkills+ Talented Training (RTO 45144).

National Unit of Competency

PUAFER005 – OPERATE AS PART OF AN EMERGENCY CONTROL ORGANISATION (FIRE WARDEN)

  • Identifying and responding to emergency signals and warnings
  • Understanding various emergencies and their impacts on the workplace
  • Human behavior during emergencies
  • Initiating and managing initial emergency responses
  • Evacuation principles and procedures
  • Fire equipment location and use
  • Providing assistance to individuals needing support
  • Fire warden identification techniques
  • Accounting for building occupants during evacuations
  • Post-incident evaluation and improvement of emergency procedures
  • There are a few prerequisites that must be met:
    • Minimum 15 years of age
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of English (written and verbal)
    • Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
    • Arrive in suitable PPE: Safety boots, long pants and a high-vis shirt
    • Complete the pre-course study and assessment questions

     

    Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)

    • If English is your second language, you must advise us at the time of booking. Contact our Sales and Service Team on 07 3375 5822 to determine your eligibility to undertake this training. We will assist you in any way we can, but due to the demands of the assessment process, do not guarantee that every applicant will possess the level of LLN required for the assessment.
    • You will require at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills. If you have any doubts, please let us know so we can assist you.
    • The Regulator does not allow an interpreter to be used during the mandated formal assessment.

     

    Pre-Course Study and Assessment

    To increase your chance of success, mandatory pre-course study and an online assessment (totalling about three hours) are required. The link to begin this study will be provided when you book the course.
