Overview

In Australia you require a Licence to operate Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) some know this as a Yellow Card. A Elevated Work Platform ticket is proof of completion in one or more modules in various types of EWPs, including scissor lifts, vertical lifts, boom lifts (under 11m), truck and trailer mounted platforms.This course is ideal for construction workers, miners, warehouse personnel, painters, renderers and logistics people. Participants may complete singular or multiple machine classes, according to the type of work they will be undertaking.

Students who pass will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework. This accreditation is valid throughout Australia. The Statement is given out by ModSkills+ Talented Training (RTO 45144), which is a nationally accredited registered training organisation.

 

National Unit of Competency

RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

  • There are a few prerequisites that must be met:
    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of English (written and verbal)
    • Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
    • Provide three (3) matching original evidence of identity documents (see this link and read the “What types of evidence do I need to provide?” section above for details)
    • Please note that arriving without this ID will result in you being turned away from the course

     

    Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)

    • If English is your second language, you must advise us at the time of booking. Contact our Sales and Service Team on 07 3375 5822 to determine your eligibility to undertake this training. We will assist you in any way we can, but due to the demands of the assessment process, do not guarantee that every applicant will possess the level of LLN required for the assessment.
    • You will require at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills. If you have any doubts, please let us know so we can assist you.
    • The Regulator does not allow an interpreter to be used during the mandated formal assessment.
